The causes of temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD) and TMJ pain are multifactorial with important factors originating from the neuromusculoskeletal and fascial systems of the cranium, mandible, and the cervical spine. Understanding the close-loop biomechanical connection among these 3 systems is essential for optimum dental and chiropractic treatments of TMD.
